Through Classic and the Classic Certification Program we want to assure that user experience with Palm OS applications on Classic and the Pre is identical or better than the one they currently have on their Palm OS based devices.

The beauty of Palm OS is in the freedom it provides both to developers and to users and we wish to preserve that. We are happy to say that there will be no "User Interface Guidelines" typical in these types of programs that developers must follow strictly in order to publish their work.

Instead of that, we are providing technical guidelines in the Classic Compatibility Guide document (part of a Classic Certification Kit) where we highlight those key differences between Classic and a "real" Palm OS environment. By following these guidelines you will be able to make sure that your application works well in Classic.

Meeting the requirements of the Classic Certification Program, without actually certifying the application with us, will not guarantee its full performance on the Pre.
